Faith Kortrey was born on Long Island, New York and moved to southeast Pennsylvania when she was 5 years old.
In her early teens, Faith began drawing and painting in earnest and she majored in art in high school. She went on to Tyler School of Art near Philadelphia where she graduated in 1979 with a BFA degree in Printmaking. Faith continued her work on printmaking at evening workshops until 1983, when she attended one semester of graduate school in Printmaking at the University of Wisconsin- Madison Dept of Fine Art. She withdrew from the program due to the cost and length of it and due to the scarcity of job opportunities in the field at that time.
Faith has worked for about 32 years full time in the corporate environment as an administrative assistant, mostly at SmithKline Beecham, which became GlaxoSmithKline. During some of those years she took evening courses in drawing and painting at the Conshohocken Art League.
During the 1990s Faith served on the Board of the Conshohocken Art League and also became a Life Member of Greater Norristown Art League.
She is currently also a member of the Art Center at Ambler.
Now happily retired, Faith continues to draw and paint in her spare time, mostly in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania...
